ESD Awareness (2 hours)
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to alert Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufactures about the potential dangers of ESD in the workplace.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
Students will be able to define electrostatic discharge (ESD), explain its effects on electronic devices and demonstrate strategies for controlling ESD in the workplace.
COURSE TOPICS:
This class will:
Describe what ESD is.
Describe what causes ESD.
Describe the effect ESD can have on the products we handle.
Discuss the consequences of not controlling ESD in our workplace.
Discuss the difference between Catastrophic and Latent Damage.
Explain the problems of wearing ESD smocks unbuttoned in our workplace.
Explain why and when we must use ESD straps.
Explain the importance of wearing approved ESD shoes in our workplace.
Explain the general principles of "Good Housekeeping."
EVALUATION: Written Test/Passing score 70%
CERTIFICATE: Certificate presented to those passing the evaluation.
