IPC-J-STD-001 Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies
Certified IPC Specialist (8-40 hours depending on your needs)
The following course has 5 modules and can be taken altogether or broken up into sections. Completion of all 5 modules is a 5 day course. (A 6th Module is available for those needing the Space Addendum Certification. Contact Dave for details).
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The student will receive detailed training in Terminals, PTH, and SMT soldering and the Inspection criteria of the IPC-J-STD-001.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
Candidates will take one closed book exam and one open book exam for Module 1. Modules 2-5 each have one open book exam. The student will demonstrate solder skills in the lab; demonstrations must meet minimum requirements of the J-STD-001 class 3. A score of 70% or better on the classroom exams and 70% or better on the soldering demonstration is necessary for certification. Candidates who are successful will receive the IPC industry recognized Certified IPC Specialist certificate.

Inspection of the PWB to IPC Standards
Written examination & evaluation of inspection ability

EVALUATION:
Open and closed book tests.
Also hand solder and inspection tests.
A score of 70% or above is needed for certification.
