Certified IPC Specialist Certification
The following course has 9 modules and can be taken altogether or broken up in sections. The amount of time depends on how many Modules you need. The total 9 modules is a 40 hour course. The student must pass Module 1, and then you can pick and choose according to your needs from Modules 2-9.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This program is designed specifically for the operator with soldering experience. Overall proficiency of student will be evaluated by certified instructor. The student will receive detailed training in:
Module 1 Common Procedures
Module 2 Wire Splicing
Module 3 Through-Hole Components
Module 4 Chip & MELF Removal/Installation
Module 5 SOIC/SOT Procedures
Module 6 J-Lead & QFP Procedures
Module 7 PWB Circuit Repair
Module 8 Laminate Repair
Module 9 Conformal Coating
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
Candidates will take a 20 question open book examination. It is recommended that students achieve a score of 70% on this examination. Acceptable workmanship skills must be demonstrated for satisfactory completion of Modules 2-9. The student must demonstrate acceptable solder skills of each module in which they receive training.
SKILL EVALUATION:
Skill evaluation is based on either the Acceptability Criteria of IPC-A-610 for Class 3 Products and/or your company standards.
EVALUATION:
Open book test.
Also hand solder and practical repair test.
70% or above needed for certification
CERTIFICATE: 2 year Certification
PREREQUISITE: None, but it is helpful if students are IPC-A-610 Certified.
